Proposed Development:

The initial step in the process is applying to temporarily remove the chimney and part of the gable from the Northern Wing, which has been deemed unsafe for health and safety reasons. The internal walls of the Northern Wing collapsed in 2023, resulting in the buttress scaffolding being installed.

Following this, the structural stability of this part of the building, needs to be surveyed to test the intervention required to restore the building. 

Enabling Development may be sought to fund the conservation deficit, if this is established following costings and the surveys.

Result:

The Listed Building Consent application is currently being considered by Cardiff Council and discussions are ongoing.
