Demolition of existing care home and construction of a new care home at the Former Plas Y Bryn Care

Former Plas Y Bryn Care Home, at Thornhill Road, Cwmgwili, SA14 6PY

This is notification of commencement of the Pre-Application Consultation Stage, in line with the statutory requirements of the Planning (Wales) Act 2015.  The date of commencement is 6th January 2025, and all responses must be received by 3rd February 2025.

What are the proposals:

Demolition of existing vacant 32 bed care home and construction of a new 60 bed care home including associated landscaping works and parking at Former Plas Y Bryn Care Home, at Thornhill Road, Cwmgwili, SA14 6PY

The site currently contains a vacant, 32-bed care home that was previously operated by an independent registered care provider. Carmarthenshire County Council have acquired the site, with plans to convert the building into a modern 60-bed care home. The proposed development is expected to receive Welsh Government funding.

Following this consultation, a full planning application will be submitted for consideration by the Local Planning Authority.

You may view hard copies of this information at Ammanford Customer Service Hwb, 41 Quay Street, Ammanford, SA18 3BS. This facility will be open between 6th January 2025 and 3rd February 2025, Monday to Thursday between the hours of 09:00am and 17:00pm, and Friday between 09:00am and 16:30pm. In addition to this, there will be a public exhibition held for this proposal in the same building, on the 13th of January, between 1pm and 4pm.
