Depot

Authority: Cardiff Council

Proposed Development:

KEW Planning was appointed to obtain temporary change of use for a period of 5 years from a warehouse (Class B8) to an events venue (sui generis).

DEPOT is an established business in Cardiff and a popular destination venue, that has various events including BINGO Lingo, Six Nations Rugby and most recently Eurovision.

Planning Issues:

The temporary change of use would result in the loss of employment floorspace.  DEPOT needed to relocate and commence the fit-out works within very short period of time (less than 8 weeks).

Through the very well established relationship with Cardiff Council officers, Kathryn established and agreed at an early stage that Pre-Application Consultation wasn’t necessary (although over the 1,000sqm threshold).

Result:

This was the third time that DEPOT were relocating and Managing Director Kathryn Williams had acted on their behalf. Kathryn engaged early with officers, and ensured that a very swift approval decision was forthcoming, via delegated powers, within 5 weeks of validation.

“Kathryn has been dedicated to working with DEPOT for a lengthy period being the third time she has acted for us. Kathryn is always very response, proactive and capable, using her well-established connections to deliver the positive result we have for DEPOT 3. Kathryn is our go-to planning consultant, always giving us the most accurate advice and prioritising us to meet tight deadlines.”
