Services: Planning advice and strategy for decarbonisation works
KEW Planning has been appointed by Swansea University to provide planning advice and support as part of its ambitious Decarbonisation Programme, which aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions across its estate. The programme forms part of the University’s wider sustainability strategy and commitment to achieving net zero carbon operations.
Our Role
KEW Planning is advising on the planning and consenting strategy for works associated with the Energy Centre and Margam Building, two key components of the University’s decarbonisation pathway. Our role involves:
- Reviewing planning requirements for new and upgraded energy infrastructure, including renewable energy generation and distribution elements.
- Advising on planning strategy and risk to support programme delivery and compliance with national and local sustainability policies.
- Liaising with local planning authorities to ensure alignment with policy objectives for carbon reduction and campus enhancement.
- Providing ongoing strategic input to support the development of future planning submissions within the wider decarbonisation framework.
While currently at an early stage, this appointment reflects KEW Planning’s growing involvement in renewable energy and decarbonisation projects across Wales. Our work with Swansea University demonstrates our ability to translate complex sustainability objectives into deliverable planning strategies, supporting organisations on their journey toward net zero.
